Reverse introduces a new chapter for the First Chord line, presenting up-to-date performances of Chuck Taylor through a focused approach to materials and construction. The First String represents the most elevated version of the silhouette, where every detail reflects a direct commitment to craftsmanship, structure and finish. The series builds on the familiar form of the Chuck Taylor while improving its construction and experience.
This season focuses on three materials that change the character of the shoe through surface and texture. Premium leather it offers the most reduced expression, allowing the construction and proportions of the silhouette to remain fully visible. The material defines the shoe through its quality and finish, emphasizing the construction itself. Snake Print Leather introduces a design with an aluminum foil finish that creates variation across the surface, adding depth while maintaining a tonal look. Croc Print Leather it focuses on texture, bringing a bolder surface while staying grounded in the established Chuck Taylor shape.

Each version is based on the same foundation that defines First String. The construction introduces additional weight and reinforced structure, supporting durability and long-term wear. Raised foxing tapes, refined fabrics and leather linings shape the tactile experience, giving each pair a consistent sense of material depth and finish.
The outsole plays a key role in the overall construction. Converse incorporates a Vibram outsole, known for traction, performance and temperature regulation, into the Chuck Taylor form. This addition supports functionality while maintaining the identity of the silhouette. Underfoot, a molded sockliner combines Converse CX and Nike Air technology, providing cushioning that supports everyday comfort.

First String also introduces updates to the shape and fit of the shoe. A revised last widens the profile to accommodate modern foot shapes while maintaining the Chuck Taylor visual identity. The leg cap appears shorter, creating a subtle shift in proportions. A lace guard stabilizes the tongue, while an expanded brow design reduces the opening and secures the fit. These adjustments improve the structure without altering the recognizable contour of the shoe.
Further changes appear in the details. The stripes take on a tonal finish with wheels, offering a more sophisticated visual treat. The nameplate increases in size and harks back to designs from the late 1950s. The upper collar line takes on a reshaped shape and polished eyelets complete the upper. Each element contributes to a consistent approach that reworks familiar details through informed execution.

The release extends beyond the shoe itself through its packaging. A heavy-duty two-piece cardboard box draws on vintage references, paired with a dust bag and cardboard sleeve. These elements reinforce the elevated nature of the First String line and complete the overall presentation.
The first String Chuck Taylor in Premium Leather, Snake Print Leather and Croc Print Leather arrives on March 24th via select global retailers.
