When we moved into our house a few years ago, we did a lot of projects, but once we had our two kids, all that remodeling and decorating progress stopped. But we’re back on a good schedule and I’ve realized that my house needs some attention in the decorating department.

Gray with color
The gray walls and decor are a change from the traditional tan and beige colors of several years. Gray doesn’t have to be boring! It’s fresh and neutral and you can add all kinds of colors and textures with a gray room.
Whenever someone asks me to help them choose colors, I always tell them to use their favorite shade of gray. Works for kitchens, kids rooms, living room and more. Gray can be light, dark and also have many different undertone colors.

Add more storage
The easiest and fastest way to clean up your home and create a clutter-free look is to add creative storage. You can hide everyday items in plain sight with baskets, ladders and shelves. Like this ladder in our living room that holds blankets. A find a similar one here.
We have baskets in every room. They’re great for just throwing items in when you want to clean them in a hurry, and now they’re big enough to hold blankets, pillows, and other items that don’t fit anywhere else.

Bring life to your home
I’m into fake plants these days.
I admit I have a black thumb! I can’t keep even the most basic of plants alive, so I’m perfectly fine with grabbing a few fake ones to add greenery and life to my spaces.
Next on my list to get is a fake fiddle leaf fig tree. These look so beautiful and require zero maintenance. If you don’t have May plants at home, consider buying some tall trees, iris plants or larger floor plants that you can use to liven up your rooms. Here are some of my favorite fake grasses.

This is an iris I made on an old trophy. I love the color and size of it. You can make your own fake arrangements with a little creativity and supplies from the craft store.
Change your wall art
Walls can be difficult to decorate, but there are many ways to change things up and give walls a new lease of life. If you’ve ever looked at your walls and wanted to hang some new things, check out some ideas that won’t cost a fortune, but still look good.
Think tapestries, textiles, large abstract art, mirrors or rustic signs. Go with what’s your style and definitely go further than usual. Most people choose wall art that is too small for the space. If it looks uncomfortable, it’s probably because it’s too small or hung too high (or both).
