Vipp marries wood and metal with the new V2 kitchen

While wood tends to suggest a warmth and the durability of nature, metal evokes minimalist refinement and the precision of industrial production. When combined, these ubiquitous yet constantly redefined materials take on new proprietary and iconic dimensions. These seemingly disparate elements—polar opposites one might think—end up complementing each other in surprising ways. One anchors and—if presented carefully—doesn’t need to override the other. As seen in the versatile Danish design brand Vipp’s just released V2 Kitchenpowder coated steel can carry mid tone oak and vice versa. The former can play with the fine grain of the latter.

In an unexpected twist, it’s actually wood that forms the shell of the particularly delicate system of cabinets and counter-islands. Metal is realized as a basic structure but also as accents: the thin legs, the push-click cabinet pulls and the anodized aluminum and doors. rendered in an extruded, low-relief fluted pattern. Borrowed from its sister product, the V3, this distinctive feature imbues the design with a clean, repetitive vertical rhythm of form and the brilliant refraction of light.

Why shouldn’t a kitchen island receive the meticulous detail of a carefully considered piece of furniture? maybe even a credenza. By adding wood to its palette, Vipp furthers this mission. changing the perception of what this kind of essential household element can be. Each of the kitchen concepts is independent—it looks like a credenza in profile—and unlike conventional built-in appliances, it can be moved. Systems can come together when someone moves house. By the same token, the system – available as a narrow island, full island or wall-mounted configuration – blends seamlessly with a wide range of interior styles. Although undeniably modern and updated, the design is universal enough to become a chameleon, adapting to different spaces.

“We wanted the V2 to feel unmistakably Vipp and yet deliver a new warmth in both touch and tone,” says Kasper Egelund, CEO and third-generation owner of the widely acclaimed boutique producer known for its guest house destinations around the world. “It’s a natural evolution in our kitchen family—familiar in construction but distinctly different in expression.”

Of course, the V2 comes in two variants – light and dark – showing the breathability in the implementation of this fresh proposition. Both versions show the skillful and balanced interplay of these two classes of materials. In terms of practicality and efficiency, the extra-rugged 20mm precision-welded stainless steel workbench—folded from a single sheet with squared edges—is intended for use and scratches. This intended function reflects an honest design philosophy that acknowledges that pristine objects will eventually succumb to wear and tear. This does not mean that the V2 will lose its value, but rather the opposite. Through the use and evidence of this, it will become more personalized, infused with multiple stories. that legendary dinner or romantic evenings cooking at home that changed everything.
