A balcony doesn’t need to be filled to work. In fact, the opposite is often the case: the more objects you add, the more the space shrinks, loses its breath, and becomes difficult to truly experience. It’s not about how much you put in, but how correct is what you choose.
At Design Week we see increasingly substantial environments, where a few elements are enough to build a complete atmosphere. The same principle works perfectly outside, especially on small balconies. And this is where a set like the Elba series from Maisons du Monde gets interesting, because it doesn’t try to do everything, but does exactly what it needs to do.
A small set, but already complete
The Elba set consists of a round table and two chairs, made of steel with resin weave in terracotta color. It’s a combination that works instantly because it has a precise balance: the structure is light, thin, while the weave adds material without weighing it down.
Color is probably the most successful aspect. It is not neutral, but neither is it intrusive.
