el departamento stages the cinematic interior of a flagship store

The Department adds Lady Pippa flagship store in Madridlocated on Calle Lagasca in the Salamanca area. The retail space is 106 sq.m. reinterprets conventional store layouts through a scenographic approach that incorporates interior architecture with cinematic references. The concept, titled Soirée Dreams, structures the space as a sequence of environments where retail, atmosphere and narrative are closely linked.

The design is based on visual references related to his work David Lynchparticularly in the use of contrast, reflection and spatial ambiguity. Upon entry, a metal wall-mounted telephone introduces the spatial narrative, accompanied by an illuminated sign displaying the brand statement. These elements create a transition from the street to a controlled indoor environment.

Material and surface treatments define spatial continuity. A blue water-effect floor runs throughout the store, paired with walls finished in matching lime, forming a continuous envelope. The central bench, placed as a focal element, is made of backlit corrugated glass and covered with a suspended aluminum light fixture.

velvet, faux fur and glass make up Ms. Pipa’s layered landscape

Studio El Departamento organizes viewing areas through a combination of reflective and textured elements. Three mirrored arches frame the main retail zone, enhancing spatial depth and visual layering. The clothes are presented against a backdrop draped in silver-toned faux fur, while the shoes are set inside recesses lined with contrasting pink and blue velvet.

The equipment area is considered as a separate spatial condition within the store. It is defined by silk curtains enclosing the perimeter and illuminated mirrors that evoke traditional dressing rooms. A Murano glass chandelier hangs centrally, acting as a visual anchor within the space. Seating elements including chrome stools and plush poufs complete the arrangement.

A secondary level houses “L’Atelier”, an event-oriented space with a more limited material palette. The floor is finished with a green carpet, while the walls are clad in dark wood veneer, creating a more closed and restrained environment. This lower level extends the program beyond retail, hosting private events and brand-related activities.
