DSCENE magazine feature model Abihdan was thererepresented by Models of successas one of its cover stars Design under pressure issue, fashion photographer Moïse Mbarga-Abega. The cover, titled The island holds stillwas captured in Lanzarote, the Spanish island and the easternmost of the Canary Islands. Juan Areizaga led the art direction, with styling by Sania Batragrooming by Jaime Hernandezand casting from Fernando Herbert. For the cover Abihdana wears one Songzio jacket combined with a Loro Piana vest and Issey Miyake Man trousers.

Design Under Pressure examines the pressure placed on creative work when attention never really stops. The issue turns to the pressure to keep producing, to stay visible, to live up to expectations, and to protect the part of the work that still belongs to the person doing it. It asks how creative people continue when public attention becomes part of the process, and what happens to beauty, discipline, and imagination under that kind of demand.

The issue takes this question to different fields, from fashion and film to design and public life, with each cover putting pressure on a different shape. In The Island Holds Still, the subject moves away from speed and into stillness. Teo Abihdana’s story is set in Lanzarote, where the island’s volcanic terrain creates a slower visual response to the tension behind the subject.

In this setting, light falls without urgency, flattening the distance until the horizon and the ground look like variations of the same surface. The body becomes less a figure than a measure of how quiet space can become when nothing requires movement.
