Hello friends and happy holidays!
Today I’m sharing a little girl’s Christmas bedroom, which is my daughter Cora’s. Her bedroom is my favorite in our house. It has bay windows and even a fireplace, making it the perfect spot for decorating especially at Christmas time.

Since my kids are older (they’re 5 and 7 as of this writing), it’s finally fun to decorate with them – even if they put all the ornaments in the same place on the tree 🙂
They still believe in all the magic of the season and I love making memories with them during these short weeks of the year.
This week some friends and I are doing a vacation home tour, so be sure to check out the info at the bottom of this post to see all of their gorgeous homes decorated inside and out!
This is Cora’s room. It’s kind of like a fairy garden with sugar plums. Its walls are light pink, the fireplace is white and it has colorful curtains and white accessories.

While these aren’t traditional holiday colors, it’s fun to do something new and use pink, purple, and black to create a festive space for her to enjoy.
Decorating with new colors gives you more ideas on how to create a festive atmosphere with things you wouldn’t normally use! It’s always fun (and free) to take things from your home and use them in new places. We did it here with the stools and some cushions.

A few notes about this room:
I found the head and legs at the thrift store for $15. I took a coat of paint, then sanded it down and sprayed on a white enamel (in a spray tent in our basement during the all-time winter). I love it and she was so excited to get her big bed for her birthday a few years ago.

This black chair is a recent makeover. I rescued it from the curb at the neighbor’s house and have 2 coats of Coal Black Fusion Mineral paint on it. Then I pinned new fabric and sewed on the gray cushion covers. Cora will love reading in this chair. The Christmas Countdown Pillow is a HomeGoods find. And a great way for kids to know when the holidays are coming, since they ask everyday when Santa will be here!

The fireplace is cracked from (what we assume) the house fixed years ago. When we moved in, it was raw brick but I painted it. First time I did it! Our house was built in 120, so we have some quirks like that, but we love it.
Here are more of my holiday decorating ideas and projects:

I have made all these fireplace trees over the years. Some have fur, feathers, trim, paint, ribbon and other items on them. It is an easy craft, read about it how to make christmas trees here.
We get creative with the seasons and put different things in the fireplace since it’s a non-working fireplace.

Since there are a lot of colors in this room, I don’t go overboard on making things match. I let the colorful curtains guide things and also make sure they are what Cora wants. I like to involve her in what her own space is like.

Now that this room is decorated, it goes to Cole’s room because he asked me for a LOT of holiday decor in his place 🙂
