Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant return with the KD19the nineteenth chapter in his footwear series. The new model brings a focused approach to performance, combining responsive cushioning, structured support and a design that reflects Durant’s presence on the court.

The KD19 focuses on a multi-layer cushioning system designed to support continuous movement and impact. At its core is a full-length Zoom Strobel, a technology previously introduced in the KD12. This system works alongside a 3D molded sock liner and a Cushlon 3.0 midsole, creating a setup that prioritizes comfort and energy return.

The midfoot reinforces the platform, helping to maintain balance through quick changes in direction and sustained play. This addition supports performance demands throughout the game, offering consistency from opening to final possession. The construction keeps the foot secure while allowing the player to respond to movement.

The upper introduces a distinct visual and functional element through a TPU outer element. Nike engineers developed this feature using a dual injection process. The first stage forms the base structure, providing targeted support around the heel and midfoot. The second stage shapes the outer layer into a dagger-like form, creating a strong visual identity associated with Durant’s ‘Slim Reaper’ moniker.

Breathability remains a focus through the inclusion of a fabric tongue, allowing airflow during play. Additional details refer to Durant’s identity, including the incorporation of his jersey numbers, 35 and 7, into the outsole.

Ross KleinVice President and Creative Director of Nike Basketball, frames the KD19 as a reflection of Durant’s game. He describes the shoe as visually distinctive and built for instant response and consistent comfort, supporting players as they move around the pitch and create scoring opportunities.
