Ernest W. Baker Spring The summer of 2027 begins with the image of a rose slowly opening. Inês Amorim and Reed Baker use this idea as a way to think about craft, construction, and time. The collection unfolds through patience rather than exaggeration, allowing each look to reveal its details gradually.

Presented at Paris Fashion Week on June 26, 2026, the season begins with a reduction. Amorim and Baker strip the clothes back to their basics, stripping away anything unnecessary to hone shape, proportion and attitude. This process gives the collection a quieter strength. Nothing feels over the top, but the clothes still bring intensity through surface, print and texture.

Tailoring remains central to Ernest W. Baker’s language. The brand has built its identity around sharp wardrobe staples, European elegance and American rawness, and SS27 continues that direction with a more distilled approach. Jackets, trousers and structured pieces create the skeleton of the collection, while expressive prints and fabric contrasts interrupt this series. Stripes and checks appear alongside bold graphic prints, shifting familiar menswear codes into a more volatile mood.

The rose becomes more than a decorative reference. It sets the pace of the collection. Like petals that open one by one, details emerge through craftsmanship and construction. Crochet knits bring a visible hand to the season, while driving gloves and traditional Portuguese knitted leather fishing shoes connect the collection to specific manufacturing traditions. These pieces give the clothes a vibrant quality, placing sophistication next to intimacy.

Amorim and Baker continue their study of surface from the previous Fall Winter collection. This season, two total looks use intricate Swarovski embellishment techniques, bringing light to the collection without turning it into a spectacle. Embellishment works best as a form of precision. It adds tension to the surface while remaining within the controlled structure of the collection.

The strongest moments come from the balance between discipline and spontaneity. Ernest W. Baker understands tailoring as a system, but SS27 refuses to leave that system untouched. The contrast of the fabric, the graphic placement and the handmade details give the clothes a less predictable charge. Clothes keep their shape, yet something inside them keeps changing.

This intensity suits the brand’s cinematic sensibility. Founded in 2018 and named after Reid Baker’s grandfather, Ernest W. Baker often works with memory, character and atmosphere. This season, these ideas feel less like narrative style and more like construction. Designers use memory through craft, not costumes. They return to familiar codes and then refine them through texture and gesture.

By reducing clothing, Amorim and Baker create space for craft, print, and proportion with matter more. The collection is rooted in tradition, but not trapped by it. Like the rose that guides the season, it opens slowly, through small shifts, careful details and a clear return to the essential.
