The W16 mistral ‘blanc éternal’ refers to a digital model
Bugatti‘s white porcelain W16 Mistral ‘Blanc Éternel’ has fine black lines that look almost hand-painted over its skin. The unique supply comes via Bugatti Sur Mesure with Berlin’s Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) and brings the latest W16 Bugatti into conversation with a much older material culture.
THE car framed as a return to a story that began fifteen years ago, when Bugatti collaborated with KPM on the Veyron Grand Sport ‘L’Or Blanc’. This previous car took cues from a white porcelain vase designed for KPM by Enzo Mari, whose blue accents suggested a way to read the volume of a hypercar through the line.
The ‘Blanc Éternel’ revisits the concept at the end of the W16 era, replacing the hand-drawn fluidity of its predecessor with a graphic language drawn from the digital tools used to build the surfaces of the Mistral.

Hidden wedges become hand-applied paint
The W16 Mistral was sculpted through a fully digital design process, using Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS), to shape the controlled surfaces of the roadster. Those familiar with such modeling software as Rhinoceros or Autodesk Maya will be familiar with the 3D line that marks the edges of a digital model.
For the ‘Blanc Éternel’, these hidden lines are naturally rendered and expressed throughout the bodywork, transforming the underlying geometry into a black and white composition that locates the hood, doors, C-line, air intakes and X-shaped taillights.
This digital origin still ends up in his hands Bugattihis craftsmen. The body is first painted pure white, then sanded and primed before each line is taped directly to the car. The areas around the pattern are masked, the film channels are opened, and black paint is sprayed onto the exposed paths, a process that depends as much on the eye as on the software drawing behind it.

On the outside, it forms the EB emblem – the initials of founder Ettore Bugatti – the fuel and oil caps and two engine cover inserts with the KPM Berlin royal scepter logo. The application of these pieces carries its own technical requirement, as porcelain shrinks seventeen percent when fired and must be shaped with this transformation already incorporated.
Inside, the same graphic line continues in white leather. Bugatti developed a process of covering and painting the leather parts by hand, keeping the sharp black design durable enough for the cabin. The porcelain then moves to the parts the driver touches: the speaker cover plate, kneepad inserts, shifter housings, center console armrest insert, and power window buttons.

Beneath the porcelain and paint lies the final expression of Bugatti’s 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine. The W16 Mistral was introduced as a 1,600 PS open roadster, with only 99 examples planned and full production already reported. In ‘Blanc Éternel’, the model’s rarity becomes more concrete, shaped around an order that treats the car’s digital fabrication as its exterior ornament.
The piece lands at a time when ultra-luxury car design leans deeper into individual commissions, but this one is most interesting where it exposes the process. A surface map becomes paint. A brittle ceramic material becomes a button, a lid, a shifter shell. At the end of Bugatti’s W16 chapter, ‘Blanc Éternel’ turns the supercar into a record of how it was designed, built and handled.
