Weave Robotics’ Isaac 1 is the latest attempt to bring a useful robot at home without making it walk on two legs. Built in San Francisco, the machine sits on a wheeled base, rises from three feet to five feet nine inches, and uses two articulated arms to handle basic household chores, with the washing machine being its main workspace.

The robot is now available for pre-order ahead of its first deliveries in California in the fall of 2026, with wider US availability expected in 2027. At $7,999, or $449 per month through a subscription plan, the Isaac 1 is clearly aimed at early adopters.

However, his design is interesting because it moves away from the humanoid fantasy that has dominated the latest approaches to robotics and focuses instead on a machine that can simply pick up objects and roll around a room.

The Isaac 1 has a compact 20.5-by-22-inch footprint, keeping it closer to a home device than a full-sized humanoid. Its height changes depending on the task, collapsing when idle and expanding when it needs to work on beds, counters, bars or wardrobes. The robot has a vertical reach of 80 inches and a horizontal reach of 38 inches, enough for a range of household surfaces without relying on a body that mimics human movement.

Weave has also avoided the usual hard sci-fi finish. The robot’s structure is wrapped in removable fabric shells, available in colors such as Sage, Grey, Slate Blue, Terracotta and Vesper. This surface treatment does a lot of work, making Isaac 1 read like furniture over lab equipment, acknowledging that a domestic robot must share space with fabrics, pets, and everyday clutter.

autonomy with a safety net

The Isaac 1 is meant to handle its primary tasks autonomously, though Weave says teleoperation support can step in when needed. This point may be one of the most realistic parts of the project. Houses are inconsistent environments, full of shifting furniture positions, loose objects, and hard-to-predict edges. A robot that can ask for help might be more plausible than one that claims to solve every room by itself.

Users can control Isaac 1 through an app, scheduling jobs or calling the robot to work on demand. The battery works up to eight hours and recharges in two. Those numbers put it closer to the pace of a home appliance than a research demo, though the real question will be how much supervision the robot needs once it leaves the controlled settings.
