Jordan brand sets it Air Jordan 1 Love Letter High OG for an August 1st release, giving the AJ1 a design that ties into Michael Jordan’s basketball farewell message. The sneaker is named after the letter Jordan wrote to the game after his final retirement, which ended with the words “Much Love and Respect.“
SNEAKERS
The new AJ1 High OG Love Letter keeps the focus on material, wear and memory. Jordan Brand gives the silhouette a design of nubuck leather and soft suede, creating a surface that will change with every wear. The materials will develop a patina over time, giving the sneaker a lively character. This detail ties the shoe to the idea of dedication, toughness and heart for the hardwood, all themes associated with MJ’s closing words.

Jordan Brand uses the phrase “Much Love and Respect” as a direct design detail. The words appear on the collar and cream label. The report goes back to 2003, when Jordan ended his career with the Washington Wizards. His final NBA game came on April 16, against the Philadelphia 76ers. Through the Air Jordan 1 High OG, a silhouette first associated with his rise in the rookie era in 1985, the release connects the beginning of Jordan’s sneaker story with the final chapter of his time on the court.

The patina effect gives the design the strongest idea of the material. As the nubuck leather and soft suede change with use, the sneaker takes on a surface shaped by time and wear. Jordan Brand connects this change to how true love can grow deeper over time, using the shoe itself as the place where this idea occurs.
The adult Air Jordan 1 High OG “Love Letter” is released along with big kids, little kids, and toddler versions. The adult pair retails for $185, the large for $140, the small for $85, and the small for $70. The release comes on August 1st.
