Anodized aluminum is colored the way paper takes ink. The pigment sinks past the surface and is sealed there, fixed within a thin layer of oxide. RIMOWA builds its palette this way, and its newest shade makes the affinity literal: Ink Blue, an almost black blue that permanently joins the Original collection.

It reaches across the line of suitcases in Cabin, Check-In L and Trunk Plus sizes, each of which is backed by the German brand’s lifetime warranty. A metallic sheen lifts the darkness, the aluminum still legible under the blue.

The deep midnight hue brings new depth to our signature aluminum, using the anodizing process to create a finish that highlights the character and beauty of the metal.”

The hardware is color-matched, right down to the TSA-approved locks, and the case rolls on the Multiwheel® The RIMOWA system led the way. A newly designed handle incorporates a damper mechanism so it lowers slowly and quietly, and an updated Flex Divider takes on a square shape with a zippered storage pocket for neater packing.

Ink Blue expands on calf leather with a Groove Cross-Body bag in two sizes and a zip pouch, both made in Italy. A series of seasonal accessories cut from denim carry the same hue: Packing Cubes, a Trifold care case and the brand’s first reversible bucket hat. An anodised aluminum card holder completes the range, made to match the cases.
A campaign film starring actress Sydney Lemmon accompanies the release, following her to Shanghai, where handwritten letters send her searching the city in blue.
