Off White premium leather forms the upper and gives the brighter details a neutral base. Colorful sections introduce pink, purple, orange and yellow behind the transparent vamp and side mesh. University Red and pink accents appear around the lace system, tongue and forefoot, while black elements frame the color scheme along the support wings, heel and midsole.

Jordan Brand adapts the familiar components of the Air Jordan 4 to match the comic book theme. A pink action-explosion shape replaces the usual top wing eye treatment, bringing a graphic detail associated with printed sound effects and illustrated impact scenes. The tongue features a Pink Jumpman with “Flight” lettering underneath, while White laces and off White lining keep the upper connected to the light leather base.

The heel provides the most unusual detail of the release. Nike applies Nike Air branding with comic book lettering with gradient and dotted graphic effects. Nike describes this heel treatment as a first. The distinction is for this illustrated rendition, as the original Air Jordan 4 pairs already featured Nike Air branding on the rear.

Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan 4, which debuted in 1989 at an original price of $110. Nike identifies it as the first Air Jordan release to reach an international market and the first model in the series to use an overcast mesh. The original design also used the recognizable support wings and visible air cushioning in the heel.

The Air Jordan 4 earned an important place in Michael Jordan’s game history during its debut. Jordan wore the Black and Cement Gray version when he scored “The Shot” against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1989 NBA Playoffs. The model was also featured in the Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing, expanding its presence beyond basketball during the same period.

The “Comic” version retains the model’s visible Nike Air cushioning, which cushions every step under the heel. Its sole combines sections of black, cream and pink, while the visible Air unit receives an aged cream environment. Pink underfoot ties the lower section to brighter graphics on the upper.

The official color list includes Off White, Anthracite, Neutral Grey, Fire Pink, Light Arctic Pink and Muslin. These tones give the sneaker a layered palette that evokes printed panels, gradient inks and illustrated effects while maintaining the recognizable Air Jordan 4 structure.

Jordan Brand will release the Air Jordan 4 “Comic” via Nike SNKRS and select retailers on July 25th. The adult version costs $230. The launch also includes Big Kids pairs at $165, Little Kids at $105 and Toddler pairs at $90.
