In a design landscape often shaped by limitation, repetition and market-safe solutions, Rashid pushes in the opposite direction. With its start Pink Blob Awardprolific designer presents his first international design award—less an award in the traditional sense, more a cultural statement. It rejects nostalgia and rigid minimalism in favor of a more fluid, optimistic vision – a vision based on what Rashid defines as “awareness over brutality” and “the future over nostalgia.”

A shift from rationality to emotion
Unlike conventional design awards that prioritize functionality, efficiency or commercial success, the Pink Blob introduces a different metric: emotional impact. “We look for design with feel, design that empowers and design that dares to be original in a derivative world,” he says Rashid.
This shift reflects a broader cultural moment where design is no longer just about solving problems — but shaping experiences, identities, and connections. The prize becomes, in this sense, a call to reintroduce soul into contemporary design practice.
Five categories, one philosophy
The award is structured into five categories, each of which explores a different dimension of human-centered design:
- Body support — fashion, wearables and prosthetics that strengthen and extend the body
- Liquid Domesticity — furniture and interiors that make the home fluid and sensual
- Emotional technology — digital and AI-based systems designed around interaction and emotion
- Democratic Radicalism — accessible mass-produced objects that challenge the idea that design excellence is exclusive
- Spatial humanism — architecture and interiors seen as emotional infrastructure
Together, these categories outline a coherent vision: design as a living, adaptive system rather than a static object. Supporting Rashid in this initiative is a jury made up of leading voices in design: Fabio November and Ross Lovegroveboth known for redefining the boundaries between technology, nature and human experience. Their presence reinforces the award’s ambition to be positioned not just as recognition, but as a filter for what comes next in design.
Open call for a global community
The Pink Blob Award is open to a wide range of entrants – from students to established studios and companies – encouraging multiple submissions across categories. Entries open on March 30, 2026, with a submission deadline of June 30, 2026, and finalists to be announced in October.
Winners will receive global visibility through exclusive exposure and amplification on Rashid’s platforms, positioning the award as both a recognition tool and launch pad for emerging and established voices.
