Kando: a smart connected care system for aged care facilities
Kando is an intelligent care system designed to address the critical challenges we face aged care facilities today. Developed by a creative products studio based in Brussels Futurewavethe system includes three interconnected hardware products: the Kando button, a portable device residents buckle to themselves or their bed, with characteristic LEDs feedback and vibration confirmation for one-tap emergency interaction. the Kando Box, a wall-mounted unit that connects to the resident’s television as an interactive visual interface. and central hubs that coordinate communication throughout the facility.

Futurewave’s Kando System Connects Residents and Caregivers
Creative products studio Futurewave handled the full scope of the project, product architecture, industrial design, electronics integration, embedded software and prototyping, ensuring that every component was both intuitive and industrial-ready. The result is a system that streamlines care management, reduces response times, eliminates paper-based documentation, and lowers long-term operating costs for nursing homes. Kando reflects a broader design challenge: creating technology that truly serves an aging population without sacrificing usability or warmth.
