There is a certain nostalgia built into late 90s denim. The proportions were right as they rejected the hypermorphic silhouettes of previous decades, the washes had character and the attitude was defiantly effortless. Gap has spent most of the last few years returning to this vocabulary, and with Hailey Bieberthe brand has distilled that instinct into something truly cohesive.
The Hailey Jean launches tomorrow (July 16), a limited-edition capsule based on two loose silhouettes: the Extra Baggy and the Low Rise Loose. Both are drawn from Bieber’s personal collection of vintage Gap pieces, refined through the lens of modern fit and construction proportions. Each pair is “1996” detailed throughout the hardware and on the back update, also stating the year Hailey Bieber the era when the collection romanticizes was also born. Her signature appears printed inside the pocket lining.
Silhouettes are rooted in ti Jane PattinsonSVP and Global Head of Design at Gapdescribes as the way Bieber naturally wears jeans. This distinction matters. This is not a design collaboration filtered by publishing ambitions. is a product collaboration based on genuine wardrobe habit. Extra Baggy comes in three washes across both in-store and online channels. Available exclusively online, the Low Rise Loose also offers three wash options. Priced at $89, the pieces are made from 100% cotton rigid denim, designed to break in over time, a principle that rewards the wearer, not the baby.

The campaign comes with the visual architecture of 90s minimalism. Still photo by Mario Sorrentistyled by Alastair McKimmplaces denim alongside classic Gap tees in clean studio settings, a visual syntax that anchors the collection firmly in the brand’s heritage while avoiding pastiche. A directed campaign film Charlie DiPlacido with production planning from Crystal Geller takes the conversation to a recreated 90s bedroom, complete with soundtrack The Cranberries” “Waiting”. It’s purposeful nostalgia without irony, where most brand collaborations fail.
For a brand with weight Gap behind this, the decision to center a collection around actual dress patterns rather than aspirational silhouettes represents a quiet shift in thinking. The collection speaks to what is happening jeans more broadly: a move towards proportion and fit as key categories, away from wash and wear as design markers. Hailey BieberHer participation carries weight precisely because she operates outside the fashion calendar ecosystem. She wears whatever moves in her life, which happens to be a lot Gap. This alignment between person and product is unusual enough to notice and the collection clearly reflects this.
The limited edition capsule releases on July 16, 2026 Gap channels worldwide (US, Canada, UK, France, Japan and select international markets).
