The energy transition is knocking on the doors of millions of Italian homes, but for many, replacing the gas boiler with a heat pump has long seemed impossible.
The reason is often practical: it is not always possible to install an outdoor unit in a condominium, due to condominium regulations, architectural restrictions or simply a lack of space.
Today, however, technology has found a specific and clever answer to this problem. At the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2026, Midea presented the H-Pack to the Italian and European markets, an air-to-water heat pump designed to be installed entirely inside the building.
How a fully indoor heat pump works
The H-Pack is a completely indoor air-to-water heat pump that can be installed inside the building in a technical room, garage or service compartment and connected externally only through two ducts for air intake and exhaust. A seemingly simple idea, but one that solves one of the most widespread obstacles in the world of energy renovation.
Unlike traditional air-to-water heat pumps, which require the presence of an outdoor unit visible on the facade or roof, this system is completely hidden in the walls of the house, eliminating any aesthetic or acoustic problem for the neighbors.

The system is also compatible with old radiators already in the home, thanks to delivery temperatures of up to 75°C with the heat pump alone and up to 90°C in hybrid modemaking the H-Pack also suitable for older and less isolated buildings, which in Italy represent the clear majority of the existing building stock.
Efficiency, benefits and incentives: why it’s worth taking the leap
Switching from a gas boiler to a heat pump is not only a green choice, but also an economically advantageous decision in the medium to long term. A gas boiler reaches a maximum efficiency of 90%, while a heat pump can reach an efficiency of 300-500%, meaning that for every kilowatt hour of electricity consumed, three or five kilowatt hours of heat are produced.
A huge leap in performance, translating into significantly lower bills. By replacing your boiler with a heat pump, you can save up to 40% on energy costs and thanks to incentives such as Ecobonus, installation costs can be reduced by up to 65%.
H-Pack control is flexible: the panel can be installed in a remote location and also functions as a room thermostat, with the ability to manage up to two independent climate zoneswhich makes it ideal for homes on multiple levels or with different heating needs. A solution designed not only for those who want to save, but for those who want to do it without compromise.
