LOEWE marks its 180th anniversary in 2026 with a campaign, capsule collection, animated film and special publication tracing the House from its origins in Madrid to its current chapter under creators Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. A collective of craftsmen founded LOEWE in 1846 as a small leather workshop on a cobbled street in Madrid. The House now ranks as the second oldest luxury fashion house in the world, with the excellence and craftsmanship of leather continuing to define its identity.

Talia Tsetrit shoots the anniversary campaign with global brand ambassadors Julia Garner and GISELLEbrand ambassadors Salma Abu Deif and Add Waiactor Sissy Spacekand artist Kara Walker. LOEWE uses the cast to frame nearly two centuries of design history through bags that shaped different eras of the House. The campaign features the Flamenco clutch, which debuted in the 1980s, the Puzzle, launched in 2015, and the new Amazona 180.

The Amazona 180 returns to a design first introduced by LOEWE in 1975. McCollough and Hernandez reinterpret the bag for their first collection, using smooth suede and supple calf leather to bring a renewed sensuality to its form. The original Amazona holds a special place in LOEWE’s history. A special feature in the anniversary edition links the bag to the social and political reality of Spain in the 1970s, when a generation of women entered public, professional and political life. The new Amazona 180 continues this attitude through material, proportion and construction.

LOEWE is also presenting an anniversary capsule collection on June 4 in stores and on loewe.com. The capsule includes handbags, small leather goods and ready-to-wear. Lion motifs appear on beaded embroidery, leather intarsia, leather charms and on the interior of the Amazona 180. The motif refers to the name Loewe, which means lion in German, and gives the collection a direct link to the House’s name. Through these pieces, LOEWE connects luxury with play, experimentation and its long relationship with the hand.

Antonio Banderas narrates an animated film for the anniversary. The film recounts important moments in LOEWE’s history, including 1872, when German merchant Enrique Loewe Roessberg united the craftsmen’s collective under his own name. It also includes the 1905 appointment as purveyor to the Spanish crown and the founding of the LOEWE Foundation in 1988. The film places the House in a larger timeline noting that LOEWE existed before the telephone, the light bulb and the moon landing.

LOEWE is also publishing a special edition, 180 Years of Craft, as part of Issue 11 of LOEWE Magazine. LOEWE stores and partner bookstores offer issue 11 and the supplement free of charge from June 15. The edition shares pieces from the House archives and opens up a rare view of the Madrid atelier. Together, the campaign, capsule, film and publication turn the anniversary into a study of skin, memory, imagination and change.
