Kim Becker always understood something basic Isabel Marant: that true style is not dictated from above, it is accumulated from below. For spring 2027, the creative director leans fully into this philosophy, creating a collection that feels less like a designer’s vision and more like a man’s life caught between continents.
“The idea was to show how there can be so many facets to a man’s style,” Bekker explains. “He’s been all over the place and he’s picked up pieces from here and there as he’s traveled around the world. And they’re pieces that have lasted and will always be relevant.” It’s a generous frame, one that celebrates the idea of a wardrobe as autobiography, a record of movement, taste and time.
The idea was to show how there can be so many facets to a man’s style,” Bekker explains. “He’s been all over the place and picked up bits and pieces from here and there as he’s traveled around the world. And they are pieces that last and will always be relevant.
What results is layered dressing stripped of pretense. A weathered shirt-jacket in rust-toned linen sits open over chambray, its crumpled fabric speaking of actual wear rather than aesthetic intent. Pleated twill trousers in sand and soft brown sit high on the waist, cinched in with tangled cord belts that suggest practicality more than decoration. There’s a graphic running shoe, the TK, that sits somewhere between sportswear and streetwear, neither. Jewels pile up on wrists and necks, sometimes bohemian, sometimes heirloom, sometimes found on a street somewhere, the kind of adornment that suggests time spent living rather than curating.
What’s more impressive is how Becker has softened it Marant home code without leaving it. Iconic knits appear, but feel earned, not forced, colorful and folksy in equal measure. A pullover inspired by a 2018 women’s piece suggests that an archive is being plundered for utility rather than nostalgia. Grungy plaid shirts and striped tees read as wardrobe staples, the kind of pieces that move seamlessly between sleepovers and Saturday afternoons, decade after decade.
The color story reflects this wandering sensibility: earthy grounding in sand and rust, punctuated by the deeper greens and blues of denim and chambre. There is nothing here that screams. Everything whispers permanence.
The casting, photographed by Brett Lloydreinforces this vision of style as a living thing. Herve, Bachir Mbaye, Tito Rapetti, Nuno Marquesand Jesse Ridderknecht they are not models in the traditional sense. He is a French designer, an Italian artist, a Portuguese artist, a Swiss model and a singer-songwriter captured in their own worlds. These are personal glimpses into real existences, not editorial constructs. “Everything in the collection feels like it’s taken from real life, so it felt right to show it to men who are just as real,” says Bekker, and it shows.
This is menswear for the hoarder, the traveler, the man who believes in pieces that last. There’s nothing here that feels dated by fall. There’s nothing here that requires styling notes or a mood board. They are simple clothes that understand the difference between fashion and life, and it is deeply, quietly, necessary.
