Netflix‘small Heartstopper Forever brings Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring back for one last chapter. The feature film premieres on July 17 and closes Alice Osemanhistory screen with Keith Connor and Joe Locke returning as the couple that first drew viewers to Heartstopper in 2022. The new trailer places Nick and Charlie at a crossroads as school, university plans and first love all push into the same summer.

In her interview with Tudum, Oseman describes Heartstopper Forever as an emotional farewell to history. The film honors what Heartstopper means to viewers, gives fans a final farewell to the characters and offers hints about their future lives. Her comments frame the finale as a look at what first love can become over time.
The creator places Nick and Charlie in a fragile scene. At 18 and 17, they face the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Many teenage relationships struggle during this time, and Heartstopper Forever asks if their love can last after this change. The story connects love with memory, pain, changing seasons, endings, beginnings and the little magic of everyday life.
The finale changes the format from series to feature film. Oseman understands why fans may feel uncertain about this decision since the running time is less than a full season. After seeing the larger vision, the film format gave the team the opportunity to create a more atmospheric conclusion. A story structure removes the need for episode endings and repetitive plot twists, giving the final chapter room for character and emotion.
The story picks up after the Season 3 finale, where Nick, Charlie and many of their friends have reached new stages in their relationships. Oseman says Nick feels unsure of who he is apart from Charlie, while Charlie worries about being left behind. Both characters have to work through their bond and individual growth. Their friends also face questions about love, friendship and the future.
Oseman’s upcoming sixth and final graphic novel Heartstopper updates the film. She says the book allows her to explore everything she still wanted to talk about with these characters. Oseman also shared comics of Volume 6 for free to read online and says the movie will feature some changes from the source material.

Ajayi, Nima Taleghani as Mr. Farouk, Leila Khan as Sahar Zahid, Bradley Riches as James McEwan, Darragh Hand as Michael Holden and Eddie Marsan as Geoff Young. Heartstopper Forever also adds Anna Maxwell Martin and Derek Jacobi to the cast.
Oseman is writing the finale and executive producing alongside Patrick Walters, Ian Canning, Emile Sherman, Evros Lin, Locke and Connor. See-Saw Films is producing. Connor and Locke are also executive producers for the first time. Connor calls the goodbye bittersweet, while Locke says the show has meant a lot to his life.
