Have you been getting the Milan Design Week buzz lately? If you missed it, don’t worry—I’ve got the scoop on the most magical installation that totally stole the show. Imagine this: a beautiful, fairy-tale walk through the 18th century exhibition space hidden in the historic Giardino delle Arti.
Excellent food artist Leila Gohar collaborated with the Nordic lifestyle brand Arket dream of a seriously unexpected collaboration. Together, they took a vintage carousel from the late 1700s and gave it a surreal, playful makeover. While they kept the gorgeous antique paintings and twinkling lights intact, they completely reinvented the seating.
Instead of traditional horses, guests were invited to jump on large, sculpted vegetables and fruits! We’re talking giant eggplants, radishes and pears. It’s exactly the kind of theatrical, food-focused magic we love from Leila Gohar.
But this wasn’t just a piece of art to look at from behind a velvet rope. The Arket carousel was fully interactive, designed to bring people together. As the giant vegetables rotated, viewers became part of the art itself.
According to Gohar, the goal was to create something open, inclusive and natural that brings a bit of everyday joy and surprise to the neighborhood. Fair? We are totally obsessed. Who wouldn’t want to ride around Milan Design Week on a giant radish?
