Steven Passaro introduces A glance for Spring Summer 2027, a collection that brings the body back into the room after the previous chapter looked up, beyond the self. This season narrows the focus to a single skin, a body that allows attention and then controls how much it offers. The collection explores the tension between exposure and concealment, using tailoring and tailoring to show fragments of what the garment holds inside.
Passaro builds each silhouette from small natural marks. An anchored shoulder, a hesitant step and a guarded stance lead the line. Clothes do not press a figure on the body. They respond to what already exists, giving form to feelings that remain partially unspoken.
“I wanted the work to be felt before it was seen” says Passaro. It describes an outfit that can carry a full work and still look almost naked because the hours stay inside. For him, restraint becomes the highest form of craftsmanship: the designer gives everything, then shows only a little.
Tailoring closes around the figure with pulled shoulders, narrow lines and long coats that seal the body. A sculpted hood frames the face and protects the eyes, turning protection into a visible part of the look.
The collection reaches its clearest point in pieces that hide their construction. A suit may look simple from the outside, but its construction follows the logic of tailoring beneath the fabric. The hand canvas, shaping and inner work has the same level of work as an embroidered dress, although the surface gives little.
Time anchors this approach. Passaro treats time as the most valuable material in the house, because no shortcut can duplicate it. Craft refuses the speed and noise of industry. A piece takes the hours it needs. These hours remain inside the sail, forming a value that can be missed at first glance.
Godets open within limits. Pleats hold form memory and then release a single fold. A sealed silhouette begins to breathe as the body moves, offering the interior in fragments to those close enough to notice. The hand remains central throughout the season. The house only places crystal beading on parts of the garment, along the edge of a hood or the flare of a hem. These details mark moments where the interior is almost visible.
Passaro also works with inert fabrics taken from the stocks of major houses. She unpicks and reworks fabric that has already lived a life, only partially bringing it back into view. Nothing just sits on the surface. The collection embeds meaning into clothing time after time.
