pink concrete in the desert
Based in Mexico City architect The Raquel font works with strong volumes and open geometries, using rustic pink concrete to give the Nereids-run Casa Langosta with a tone that pulls the surrounding land. Each bedroom is shaped through triangular contours and curved walls, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the cacti and desert.
The rooms are built with built-in furniture, including wardrobes and beds, so that the architecture follows the way the house is inhabited. Natural ventilation is part of the design, while the bedroom volumes create a more enclosed rhythm before opening up to the pool and communal areas.

a circular pool and concentrated indoor spaces
The main public space revolves around a cylindrical volume that holds the pool, which extends into a concrete structure with long views across the Mexican desert to the ocean. From above, the house reads as a set of simple forms set within the vegetation, with the pool cutting a gentle circle through the harder lines of the concrete.
Within, Children’s Heroes combines vintage and modern pieces with a collector’s eye. Original Don Shoemaker chaise lounges sit next to a one-of-a-kind version of Silla Tropical by Fabian Cappelo, dining chairs by Oscar Hagermann, lamps by Jasper Morrison and Miguel Milá, and custom fiberglass works by Sardina.

nereidas brings hospitality with a local flair
Casa Langosta is fully staffed, with breakfast, turndown service, 24-hour security and concierge programming included in the stay. Guests can arrange local experiences through Nereidas, from cooking classes to horseback riding in the Agua Blanca Mountains.
The property is also solar powered and uses a water reuse system. During construction, plants moved from the site were replanted, keeping the plot visually connected to the endemic flora that gives this part of Baja California Sur its rugged beauty.
