Win is preparing its first general release Moon shoebringing a design that had remained inaccessible for decades into wider circulation. The release follows a recent revival led by Jacques and is based on the renewed attention around the silhouette. This version stays close to the original construction, presenting the shoe as a direct reconstruction.
Nike expands the offering with a set of colorways created for the spring season. A navy and white combination introduces a balanced, understated option, while a yellow and white version adds a brighter direction. A triple white pair completes the lineup, focusing on a stripped down look that aligns with the shoe’s original design language. Previous previews also showed a two-tone white and black, along with white and maroon variants, both finished with gum soles.
The Moon Shoe dates back to 1971, when Nike was operating as Blue Ribbon Sports. The design features a pressed waffle sole that became central to the brand’s early development in performance footwear. Despite its influence, the model never reached full public circulation during the 1970s. Its limited presence kept it in the archive, where it remained one of the most difficult designs to access. Over time, the shoe gained recognition as a key reference point in Nike’s early history.
This design also informed the creation of later track models. THE Oregon Waffle and the Waffle trainer Both drew from the same foundation, carrying over the structure introduced by the Moon Shoe. These models reached a wider audience and established the waffle sole as a defining element in Nike’s identity.
The upcoming release features the shoe with minimal adjustments. Nike keeps the construction straightforward, allowing the silhouette to reflect its original purpose. The design eschews extra elements, focusing instead on proportion, material and sole pattern. Nike is planning the release in two phases. The Moon Shoe releases on April 3rd via Nike SNKRS, followed by a wider release on Nike’s website on May 7th.
