SNEAKERS
The ST Charge, short for ‘Street Tough’, is Nike’s latest high performance basketball designed for outdoor streetball. The silhouette made its first on-court appearance during the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, worn by Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham. Built for concrete and asphalt play, the model combines rugged durability with the responsiveness expected of a modern basketball shoe.

Nike combines forefoot cushioning with a foldable Cushlon 3.0 midsole. The collapsible construction creates an internal cushioning system that supports comfort during long sessions on hard courts. Together, Air Zoom and Cushlon 3.0 give the ST Charge Detroit Tough PE EP a setup built around speed and impact protection.
The outsole plays a key role in the model’s outdoor focus. Nike uses translucent XDR-X rubber for traction and durability on rougher pitches. The shoe also features an extremely durable rubber outsole, giving players support for outdoor hoops where concrete and asphalt can quickly wear down shoes.

The player version of Cunningham adds a strong Detroit identity to that performance base. The shoe is steeped in Detroit tradition and equipped with 313 street-ready speed and comfort. The name “Detroit Tough” links Cunningham to the city’s basketball attitude, while the Motor City reference gives the traffic a local edge associated with grit, durability and hard surfaces.
The sneaker also features Nike’s all-new Monster Skin, a feature that brings Motor City charm to the ugliest pitches. As part of the design, the Monster Skin adds to the shoe’s tougher character and supports the model’s exterior function. The detail works with the XDR-X rubber outsole to reinforce the ST Charge as a shoe built for demanding court conditions.

Nike describes Cunningham as an ideal player for the ST Charge because he can make the hoop in any climate and on any court. Its Detroit Tough PE EP takes this concept literally, combining a durable outsole, responsive cushioning and road-ready construction. The result gives its player version a clear role: outdoor basketball with Detroit-coded comfort, traction and design.
