Jordan brand and Free the Youth have released the campaign images for their first collection, slated for August 2026. The visuals connect the collaboration to the Ghanaian collective’s resourceful approach to art, fashion and community.

Image creator Ilya Chemetoff built the campaign around the idea of Free The Youth as cultural stunts. The concept reflects the collective’s practice of taking risks, testing creative boundaries and creating ambitious projects with available resources. Free The Youth turns imagination into action and the campaign translates this approach into a series of physical studio images.

The production used hand-drawn, hand-painted and hand-sculpted environments. The team molded clay elements for the sets and created each scene using hands-on methods. The members of Free The Youth performed each flight sequence live in the studio. The production did not use stunts, digital compositing or AI-generated imagery.

Chemetoff and the team then spent several days finishing the images by hand during post-production. This process gave the campaign a physical quality and kept the human work visible in every context. The final photographs place experimentation, inventiveness and direct action in the same visual language.

Ghanaian architecture, traditional prints and cultural symbolism informed the campaign. The group also drew from Free The Youth’s roots in Tema. One reference comes from Sun Man, a stilt artist who performs during Ghanaian celebrations. The images also take cues from late 1990s hip hop visuals and their surrealism.

During this time he often used practical effects, altered physics and saturated colors to create emotionally charged images. Free The Youth and Jordan Brand drew on these ideas while developing original scenes for the collaboration. The campaign uses hanging, handcrafted props and theatrical color to express the collective’s approach on its own terms.

Free The Youth has been built on ingenuity, courage, improvisation and community since its inception in 2016. The new images connect these values with escape as a creative mindset. This idea frames possibility as an active practice, linking aspiration to a willingness to use what already exists and create opportunity from it.

Imruh Asha styled the campaign and directed the presentation of clothes in each scene. His work gives clothing a distinct presence within Chemetoff’s constructed environments and supports the expressive nature of the collaboration.
