Growing up wandering the beautiful Rocky Mountain forests of Colorado, artist Marisa Aragon Ware learned to find beauty in the wildflowers, fungi and woodland birds. Today, he turns this lifelong love of the outdoors into the most intricate, eye-catching art you’ve ever seen.
Using a meticulous cutting and grading process, he creates subtle curves that perfectly mimic real leaves, animal bones, feathers and insect wings. The coolest part? They are all made of plain white paper. She likes to use it because it’s a deeply familiar, everyday material that most of us just throw away without a second thought. Transforming something so ordinary into something completely unexpected is where the real magic happens.
“Our need for nature extends far beyond physical survival; it also nurtures imagination, spirituality and a sense of meaning.” — Marisa Aragon Ware
As a true biophilic artist, her work focuses heavily on the human connection to ecosystems. Her stunning paper sculpture art acts as a gentle, beautiful reminder to reconnect with the wild world around us – and more importantly, protect it.
Lately, he’s been shaking things up by moving away from absolute perfection, experimenting with a “beginner’s mentality” and cool new mediums like blue prints. We can’t wait to see what wonderful, wild creations he dreams up next!
