The range rover adds a fifth silhouette
Range Rover extends its familiar high-riding shape into a lower, more elegant grand tourer. The recently previewed Range Rover GT becomes the fifth model in the family, joining the full-size Range Rover, Sport, Velar and Evoque as a vehicle designed for long distances. Its roofline falls into a coupe-like arc, while the body sits close around large wheels. The tapered rear end gives the prototype a stance closer to a performance car than the brand’s existing SUVs. It is also the first fully electric The Range Rover was developed in Jaguar Land RoverThe Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform.
The GT expands on the grand tourer formula while retaining the all-terrain range built into the Range Rover name. Long-distance comfort and electric performance are central, with rear-seat space treated just as seriously as the driver’s seat. Range Rover describes it as the most car-like model yet, although the body under the camouflage still suggests more height and suspension travel than a conventional GT.

a camouflaged grand tourer
The exterior remains covered in a unique black and white pattern crossed by flowing gold lines during the final road test. These lines follow topographic contours taken from the landscape around Gaydon, where Range Rovercreative teams and engineering teams work. The wrap hides surface detail, yet makes the long roof arc and high shoulder line more legible. The digital pattern also turns the test phase into part of the car’s visual identity.
From the side, the car sports a sweeping roofline over a full four-door body, with a deep rear quarter and subtle lighting at either end. The front end retains the Range Rover’s blunt graphic language, although the grille area becomes smoother for the electric platform. The preview still reads like a quintessential Range Rover, even when the roof drops and the tail narrows. Its width and upright nose maintain the natural presence expected of the brand.

Inner revelation is more specific. A single center display sits next to a separate driver display, replacing the multi-layered stack of panels found in many of today’s luxury vehicles. A hidden vent draws a horizontal line across the dashboard. The woven fabric then wraps the surface as one wide piece, hiding the speakers in its structure and softening the technical equipment of the cabin.
Range Rover approaches the cabin as an interior, with technology absorbed into the surfaces. Voice control removes more functions from visible buttons, while generous second-row legroom turns the rear cabin into equal parts of the grand tour. The horizontal dashboard keeps the space visually open and the fabric surface gives the eye somewhere to rest beyond the screens.

Underneath, the GT uses JLR’s EMA architecture, with production outsourced to Halewood, UK, along with internal combustion vehicles and hybrids. Battery electric power comes first. Range Rover is also planning a hybrid version later in the model’s life, giving the platform room to accommodate more than one powertrain. Exact performance figures and battery details remain to be revealed at a later date.
For now, the GT’s most compelling concept lies in the relationship between body and cabin. The exterior pulls the Range Rover towards a lower, faster silhouette, while the interior removes the material from view and gives the material surfaces more work. More details arrive later in 2026, but the preview already lays out the key change: the fifth member of the family is designed around travel itself, with the height and range of an SUV compressed into a grand tourer format.
