A nature-oriented resort embedded in Wuhan’s lakeside landscape
Wuhan Urban Construction Kaiyuan Senbo Resort is located on the north bank of Houguan Lake in Wuhan. of China first integrated commuter train resort with virtual ‘Giant Banyan Treehouse’ hotel rooms. Developed by DAHLIN Architecture, the resort integrates architecture with nature, offering six distinctive room types, including tree houses, boat housesand pumpkin carriage cottages, creating an immersive natural living experience. All units prioritize water views. The project takes advantage of the forest and lake landscape along the northern shore of Houguan Lake, adopting a village-like layout that allows buildings to follow the water’s edge in a scattered arrangement, creating a tranquil atmosphere of a meandering settlement.

DAHLIN weaves treehouses, houseboats and cabins among trees
Forest Treehouses seem to grow organically among trees with timber structures, cantilevered platforms and huge windows framing the landscape. The whimsical pumpkin cottages, shaped like dewdrops by the lake, strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Stargazing cabins have curved roofs and skylights, creating an immersive stargazing experience. The Waterfront Boat House combines traditional houseboat concepts with modern eco-wisdom, offering a sanctuary where guests can relax to the sound of gentle waves and breezes.
THE design team at DAHLIN Architecture chooses natural materials for the overall aesthetic. Breathable fish-scale wood shingles, durable PE thatch and warm red cedar cladding ensure the buildings are visually and physically connected to the land. From conception to completion, meticulous execution ensured that the architecture grew naturally from the site. This project represents a return to nature, integrating visitors into the living landscape.
